St. Ambrose School opened during the surburban movement to the suburbs that occurred not long after the end of World War II. Because Catholic education was considered critically important, it was the habit of many parishes in the Archdiocese of Washington to build the school first - and later the church. Thus, St. Ambrose Church was first established in what is now the school gym. The current church was completed around a decade after the school.
Last year, our school celebrated 70 years of operation! This is quite a feat when one considers the many schools that have come and gone during that time, and it is a testamony to the quality and dedication of countless faculty and staff who have served in the school - and the many parents who have worked to enable their children to have the advantage of a Catholic education.
Moving forward toward our next decade of service, we continue to put the children of our school and their needs first. We are here for them and the fact that their future success is in our hands is an awesome responsibility. We don't do this alone. Just as we teach that there is a higher power, so we must believe that we are guided and influenced by God's grace to continue to form those entrusted to us to become future leaders of excellence.
Thank you for stopping by to check us out. We hope you will like what you see and consider becoming a part of the St. Ambrose Catholic School family.
